What Fiber Index Fit™ is NOT

What Fiber Index Fit™ Does NOT Measure
Fiber Index Fit™ Complements Other Nutrition Information
Fiber Index Fit™ evaluates fiber in the context of the food that contains it. It does not attempt to measure the total nutritional value of a food. Vitamins, minerals, protein, fats, calories, and other nutritional characteristics continue to matter and should be considered alongside Fiber Index Fit™.
Nutrition Facts tells you what is in a food. Fiber Index Fit™ adds another layer of context by helping characterize the relationship between fiber and available carbohydrate, together with the methodology's defined nutritional factors.
What Fiber Index Fit™ Does
Fiber Index Fit™ is designed to:
-
evaluate fiber in the context of the food that contains it
-
produce a standardized Fiber Index Score™ (FI Score™)
-
translate that score into an easy-to-understand Fiber Index Grade™ (FI Grade™)
-
classify foods as FAST™, BALANCED™, or SLOW™ using Fiber Index Class™ (FI Class™)
-
represent increasing potential for fiber-associated moderation of carbohydrate digestion and absorption
-
help make different Fiber Index profiles easier to compare and consider for different eating and activity occasions
What Fiber Index Fit™ Does NOT Measure
Fiber Index Fit™ does not directly measure:
-
how quickly a particular food will digest in your body
-
gastric emptying
-
glycemic index
-
your individual post-meal glucose response
-
hunger or satiety duration
-
metabolic or clinical outcomes
-
the overall nutritional value or healthfulness of a food
The FAST™, BALANCED™, and SLOW™ classifications describe relative positions within the Fiber Index Fit™ model. They represent different levels of potential for fiber-associated moderation of carbohydrate digestion and absorption, not measured physiological responses in an individual.
Potential, not prediction.
Another Layer, Not a Replacement
Fiber Index Fit™ does not replace the Nutrition Facts label. It adds another way to understand fiber within the nutritional context of a food and translates that information into a Score, Grade, and Class that are easier to compare and apply. And because different occasions can call for different nutritional priorities, a FAST™ food is not automatically worse and a SLOW™ food is not automatically better. The question Fiber Index Fit™ ultimately helps you ask is: How does this food fit what I need right now?
Different foods. Different occasions. Different FITs.
